Two months ago a new restaurant in Borgerhout (Antwerp) opened: Essen. The place is owned by Klaas Janszoons and his partner Caroline Coenen. The restaurant is situated at the Vincotteplein, close to Pekfabrik and Plaza Real, two other venues owned and managed by Klaas, and dEUS’ Vantage Point-studio.
Klaas and Caroline are not cooking themselves. Chef Laurens Tas and his brother Sebastian will put the spotlight on a modern variant of Belgian-French kitchen with an important focus on vegetarian food.
The interior was designed by artist Philip Metten. The name refers to Klaas’ birthplace.
